well, if you recall, we did talk about gramsci. often. the thing that caused the squabbles was that you were coming at it from ethics, whereas i was talking about what they call practical ethics in the sense that you were looking for a justification for constructing moral injunctions; i was referencing the lit on the study of how people actually construct the moral rules for their day to day lives together in the context of specific social, historical context. as such, you were appealing to universalistic claims (and criticizing them) and reading my discussions as such too, when they were not.
