I think that he is just angry that his shifting to the right has not brought him the level of respect and influence that he thought would. Thirty years ago, David Horowitz did enjoy a level of respect and influence within leftist circles but little personal economic success. Since then his turning rightist has brought him a measure of economic success but he has hardly become one of the more preeminent figures on the right. The trouble is that he is no James Burnham and there is simply too much competition within the right for him to emerge as a dominant force. And in the meantime he lost the respect of a lot of people who view him as a blatantly oppurtunistic turncoat. All this must be very frustrating to him.
