Isn't the fascination with Haider's personal life symptomatic of the
Europe's bizarre fixation on the Austrian right-winger? His politics are
certainly authoritarian, but no more so than Jack Straw's. The fantasy
that he will be 'exposed' as being 'morally depraved' is born of a
frustration at being unable to challenge Haider politically on his own
home ground.
