[Didn't someone ask about actions planned for the Dem convention in LA?]

Here in Los Angeles, radical and progressive activists have been working hard for several months to put together a broad network of organizations and individuals to protest at the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles August 13-17. We have finally, in coordination with folks protesting at the Republican National Convention, completed a call and put it up with some other basic info on a website. We have also set up a variety of listserves.

Check out our website, and please pass it on to other progressive lists:

www.D2KLA.org.

Soon it will have more detailed information, as we work on a concrete schedule of activities, housing, etc. The call will also be reformatted shortly so that you can download, print, and distribute the information from the website.

There is a fascinating process going on here, as we try to carry forward the momentum from Seattle and D.C., yet struggle to make the platform of the protests and the movement itself more responsive to domestic political concerns related to the conventions, and to go beyond the issues of corporate globalization, broad as those issues already are! Anyone who could forward me short articles or papers linking globalization to oppression of communities within the U.S.,(with a special emphasis on California given the location of the DNC convention) please send them to me!

Hope to see you in August!

Solidarity,

Leone Sandra Hankey(LSandraH at aol.com) Los Angeles
