Helped to foster the Prince of Wales's interest in the natural world and farming by developing wildflower meadows at his Highgrove Estate and the dragonfly reserve there. Wendell Berry: mystical poet, essayist, Kentucky farmer and agriculturalist who teaches at the Schumacher College, an ecological studies centre in Totnes, Devon. The Prince is an admirer of his writings.
Jonathon Porritt: Eton- educated green campaigner and former director of Friends of the Earth and the Ecology Party. Now runs Forum For The Future in Cheltenham - a think-tank for greening society and sustainable development. A close friend and adviser to the Prince.
Sir Laurens Van der Post: South African mystic, writer, anti-apartheid campaigner, environmentalist and son of a Boer farmer who died in 1996. Played a formative role in shaping the Prince's love of the natural world, which he gave a spirtual dimension.
Patrick Holden: director of the Soil Association, which certifies and lobbies on behalf of organic agriculture. Advises the Prince on organic and genetic engineering issues.
Paul Ekins: another Forum For The Future founder, the Reader in Economics at Keele University is an expert on green taxes and other economic instruments to achieve environmental aims.
