Anybody who thinks this is the sole purpose of US forces in Korea is a fool and knows nothing of history. Anybody who believes North Korea could sustain more than one day of battle with a decimated economy against a South Korean military with some of the most advanced weapons available AND an economy that remains one of the fastest growing in the world is surely delusional. Koreans, N&S, are working hard to end the nearly 50 years of hostility. The sheer arrogance of US intellectuals like Brad DeLong is a vivid illustration of why SKoreans have come to despise America.
