In fact the whole battle over Mumia revolves around the fact that he was in effect allowed to put on no real defense at all at his original trial -- and all the reviews of his case so far have turned on the fact that Judge Sabo ruled that Judge Sabo was a fair judge.
I can't think of any worse distortion of the Mumia case than claiming that he had competent representation at his original trial.
