Just watched highlights of Gore and Bush speaking today. Backed by Stevie
Wonder and Jesse Jackson (I wonder if Gore asked Wonder "How did I sound?"),
Gore tried to rouse the black Baptist within as he bellowed against "the
special interests." Bush had his charts and 3x5s, talking about HMOs and
"Hillarycare," a form of socialist health care backed by Gore. He said that
Gore was for the government, while he was for the people. Canned applause
and the waving of pom-poms followed.
Am I alone in this nightmare? I've seen some bad political scenes, but this
is topping the charts.
Did anyone see the new Nader ad? It ran on MSNBC, and it is one of the best
political ads I've ever seen. Very Wieden/Kennedy: black & white indie film
cuts mixed with an appeal to one's better instincts. Usually this technique
is used to sell Nike. Here it's used to sell Nader. Improvement?
