in short, i'll thank you very much--with a tender loving smooch on top--if you'd stop appropriating feminism and the voice of "women" in order to

Well, pardon me, darling, but my underdeveloped political consciousness did not make me aware that describing running through the streets in black masks and breaking windows as "male adolescent behavior" and "infantile leftism" meant that I was cutting in on your well-defended turf as the arbiter of Feminism and the guardian of the voice of women. Next time I will be sure to ask your permission before I venture such a bold opinion on my own. Perhaps I should submit myself for reeducation at the nearest institution of higher learning -- I obviously have been away from academia too long to remember the correct protocols of what opinions one is allowed to express without receiving an imprimatur from the local authorities. And where exactly did you say I was supposed to kiss you?

But of course it is young and therefore new, and consequently, above criticism. How soon I forget.

Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never has, and it never will. If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation are men who want crops without plowing the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightening. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its waters. -- Frederick Douglass --
