ok, but this makes no sense, does it? if there were all these erroneous (or fraudulent) third-party votes in volusia, where did they go upon recount? they obviously haven't been added to gore's or bush's tally. there seems to be no accounting for them at all in the ap's reporting on the recount.

"In Volusia, Socialist Workers Party candidate James E. Harris got 9,888 votes on the first count, but his tally dwindled to 8 on the recount. And according to CNN, other third party candidates got another 9,000 votes in the county in the first count. Democratic Party officials say a computer error may have caused the outsized vote for minor candidates. On Election Night, Democrats complained that Gore's vote total dipped a mysterious 10,000 votes in the middle of the vote counting.
