One might also mention that the US ruling class supported South Africa's apartheid government. This meant that the sanctions, won by US allies of the ANC, interrupted support for apartheid from the world's most powerful country. I wonder what superpower is being stymied in its support for Saddam Hussein by the blocjade of Iraq?
