An offering:

If resident in an oppressor nation, just be damn sure that the democratic forces in the object country are calling for such sanctions, and that they do so because it synchs with their strategies and tactics for liberation...

In practice, that would mean, recently, Zimbabweans v Rhodesian Front (1965-79); South Africans v apartheid (1965-94); Haitians v junta (1991-94); Burmese v junta (1990-pres); etc... (Latin American examples, anyone?)

There may soon be a new Zim mass call for sanctions against Mugabe.

In contrast, there is not much evidence of mass movements in the South calling for Social Clause sanctions against the products of oppressed labour and fouled environments... (Chilean trade unionists in the CUT are an exception) ... so maybe don't run with this one (even if SweeneyHoffa do)... ?
