What do you expect? Cops and the rest of the criminal justice system inhabit the extremes of a polarized and violent society. The NYC police department has trainees reading Audre Lorde and Holly Sklar in an effort to make them sensitive. But all that's not going to change the fact that the job itself makes people thuggishly violent. It's like a distillation of everything that's pathological about U.S. society.
