Monday October 16 8:25 AM ET German Spy Agency Alleges Milosevic Hides Millions
By Matthias Sobolewski BERLIN (Reuters) - Ousted Yugoslav leader Slobodan Milosevic and his associates are criminals who have stashed over $100 million in ill-gotten funds abroad, German intelligence agents charged in a report obtained by Reuters Monday. ``Considerable evidence indicates Milosevic and his entourage constitute an OC (organized crime) structure and are engaged in drug dealing, money laundering and other criminal acts,'' an internal executive summary of the report said. The report alleged that ``the suspected amount of the Milosevic assets, although most are not verifiable individually, could hardly have been legally obtained during that time frame. Estimates speak of at least three-digit millions of U.S. dollars.'' Officials reporting to new President Vojislav Kostunica have said they may make efforts to seek the millions Milosevic and his backers are believed to have diverted abroad. Last year, the United Nations (news - web sites) War Crimes Tribunal indicted Milosevic, who ruled Yugoslavia for 13 years through war and economic meltdown, for war crimes. The report by the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) summarized the latest information on the former Yugoslav leader's business dealings provided by the agency for German government ministers. It said Milosevic's private financial empire extended to Russia, China, Cyprus, Greece, Lebanon and South Africa. In Switzerland alone, the agency estimated holdings at $100 million. The internal report, entitled ``Criminal Involvement of the Milosevic Regime,'' named 11 Yugoslav businessmen -- in banking, the media, telecommunications, energy, tobacco and trade -- with especially close relations to Milosevic. ``The near total occupation of key economic posts by Milosevic followers opened opportunities for illegal capital transfer for personal enrichment and financing for political plans -- weapons purchases -- as well as camouflage for criminal activity -- drug trade,'' it said. The BND said other opportunities for enrichment came from black market currency transactions. Germany has been a vocal critic of Milosevic and took part in the NATO bombing campaign against Yugoslavia last year over Kosovo. ............................................................................ ................ http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a39e768395f6f.htm (Berlin), AP, Oct. 11, 2000 German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, addressing Parliament on Wednesday, expressed his opinion that Germany should not only provide material help to Yugoslavia but that the Bundeswehr (German Federal Armed Forces) and non-military organizations should establish a permanent presence there. He declared that this was a unique chance to create a democracy in the context of further European unification.
Reunited Germany has a special responsibility for stabilizing democracy in Serbia. Democracy, said Mr. Fischer, is the basis for a lasting peace in the Balkans. But the priority is for the moment that the democratic changes be carried out peacefully and that justice prevail. The Western Balkans is a part of the European comprehensive responsibility.
It was truly correct at the time to stop Slobodan Milosevich's policy of Greater Serbia and to engage oneself on the side of the democratic opposition, says Joschka Fischer. Now the bloody murdering in the Balkans can be stopped. The Stability Pact has to be used, among other things, for the clearing of the Danube. Also democratic culture has to be built up [in Serbia] to make possible the normalization of relations between Germany and Serbia. The first steps have been taken through the lifting of the oil and the flight embargoes by the European Union. Now Serbia can be accompanied on its route toward Europe. In the words of Fischer, all those who have made themselves guilty of grave crimes have to be brought to justice

This proposal by Joschka Fischer is LOADED with ironies. It closely resembles the proposal by Harvard's evil "human rights" pseudo-intellectual Serbophobe Daniel Judah Goldhagen. He, (as well as one of his copycats in some magazine) in "Milosevic's Willing Executioners", stated that the whole Serbian people was guilty of the "Serb atrocities" that were supposed to have been commited by Milosevic and his army. He proposed the occupation of Serbia by "Western" forces in order to root out elements of Serbian culture that are supposed to predispose Serbs toward ethnic cleansing and natinalism, and against democracy. After the occupation, a democratic Serbia was supposed to result, and to be allowed to rejoin the "international community".
The irony is that the original of "Milosevic's Willing Executioners" was Goldhagen's "HITLER'S Willing Executioners", which stated that the whole German people was guilty of Nazism and of the Holocaust. The occupation of Germany, including denazification, made Germany civilized and democratic, and allowed it to rejoin the "international community".
Now the GERMAN, Joschka Fischer, wants GERMANY to carry out Goldhagen's program for Serbia. Very few Germans accept Goldhagen's thesis of German collective guilt in his original book, but they perversely want to carry out this evil program against the Serbs.
This proposal is at the same time so LUDICROUS and so totally EVIL, that we should use this post as the core of a letter that anyone reading this should send to the nearest German embassy or consulate, to the German ambassador in Washington, and to your city's Goethe Institut if it has one. LET'S FREEP THE GERMAN EMBASSY!!!!
