Voicing opposition, or for that matter voicing anything at all, will have zero impact on the political process, because talk is cheap. Organzing people and resources will. I do not think that a to-spite-my-mom-I-will-burn-my-finger vote is a very effective means of organizing.

I think a much effective strategy to shift politics to the left would include the following:

- mobilizing any group with left leanings - coordinating the activities of those groups - fundraising among these groups - endorsing a likely to win political candidate who is not staunchly opposed to left interests (e.g. Gore) - after he/she wins, using the mobilized people and funds to lobby for strategically selected causes.
