On the standard theory of a priori truth, a semantic truth is the central case of a nonempirical truth. Someone here quoted Hume's distriction between "matters of fact" and "relations of ideas," which corresponds to the distinction between a posteriori or empirical and a priori or (on some accounts) semantic. --jks
