United Nations -World Conference on Climate Change
>From 13 to 24 November The Netherlands will be host country of the 6th
session of the UN-World Conference on Climate Change (CoP6). The conference
in The Hague will be the most important session since the Kyotot Protocol
was adopted in 1997. For many countries the outcome of the conference will
be of overriding importance for the ratification of the Protocol.
On 28th April the Dutch Minister of Environment, mr. J. Pronk, and Michael Cutajar, Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC signed the "Host country Agreement "for The Hague Conference.

Climate Change secretariate (UNFCCC) Climate conference Cop6 (UNFCCC) Netherlands Congres Centre World Climate Change Negotiations The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was adopted in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 to reach stabilisation of greenhouse gas concentrations at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system. The Climate Convention has been signed and ratified by 181 countries.
Conference of Parties The supreme body to the Convention is the Conference of Parties. The first Conference of the Parties (CoP) met in Berlin - Germany in 1995. In the following years the CoP has subsequently met every year.
In the year 2000 the 6th. Conference of the Parties will meet in The Hague - The Netherlands.
