Ian--It's the old story, guns or butter. What do you want?

In the state of Washington it's probably a big issue because of the
big dee-fence contractor presence.

I don't think this is a big issue today in the union movement. Sure,
there are people who are tied to the big dee-fence contractors; and some
on the left who state that war is good for the economy, that's why we have
them. There probably are a few people who haven't grasped the high-tech
nature of modern warfare and the very real potential use of tactical nuclear
weapons and other nasty stuff regardless of how it is delivered.

Also, the dee-fence contractors operate on the profit motive and they
will sell anything they can to anybody who is willing to pay, if the government
lets them. That's always been the case, I don't see why that would
change now.

having lots of union members tucked inside the MIC is/will be a major stumbling

Mike--This is an excellent url. I'm going to ship it around to other
Steelworkers so they can see what we are up against and the corporate/government
types pushing this deal.

Just remember, down the road these same corporate/government types will
be screaming for war with China if their corporate interests get burnt
by a Chinese policy change. You can bet on it!
