What went wrong fundamentally is that socialist revolutions didn't happen in Europe & North America shortly after the Russian Revolution.

-Do you think it was the only thing that went wrong? Wouldn´t you -agree that lack of democracy and mistakes in the relationship with -peasants were important too? Of course it would be difficult to -pursue democratic and rational policies in the middle of the most -ferocious civil war of this century. But maybe the civil war could -be shortened if some of the above mentioned mistakes have not been -commited. And how, after the war, the communist party was unable -to create a political system able to avoid the following disasters? -Maybe it would be possible to build a two party system by keeping -the alliance with left SR´s? All those what ifs are difficult to -be answered, but I think it is too symplistic to put the all the -blame in the failure of international revolution (althought I -don´t deny it was a major factor) -There is another argument: the logical conclusion of the "failure -of international revolution" reasoning is that Russia was not -prepared for the revolution. So the Mensheviks would be right as -far you consider marxist analysis, right?
