The scientific consensus, which even portions of big U.S. capital are no longer denying.

Bush and the Republican right get a lot of support from natural resource industries, who hate environmental regulations. Thus, ANWR, arsenic in the water, etc.

You're right that Americans haven't changed their habits except for the worse. That doesn't mean there won't be hell to pay as the icecaps melt and the water in the streets of NYC rises to knee-depth.

No, it's a creation of activists and radicals, and big business has busily been co-opting it. I'm guessing you got some of this stuff from our mutual acquaintance Ron Arnold, who learned his craft at Weyerhauser: talk like a populist while fronting for big capital.
