West coast rail travel is perhaps at it's healthiest in 50 years.

* The Cascades service (Vancouver -> Eugene, OR) using Talgo equipment * The Capitol Corridor (Auburn -> Sacramento -> Oakland -> San Jose)

using the California Car equipment * San Joaquins service from Oakland to Bakersfield through the

delta and down the central valley * Pacific Surfliner with it's new cars and service from San Luis Obispo

to San Diego

Ridership and service has been growing each year for the past decade.
