Informant, not informer. The Stasi gathered material from almost everybody on almost everybody. Heiner never ratted anyone out or betrayed anyone, if that's what you mean.

Heiner, though, really was the global Brecht of the late 20th century. Amazingly, only the theater folks seem to realize this, but I'm working on some halfway decent English translations of his plays and writings which, hopefully, will start to change this.
