Would be interested in Chris Doss' opinion of the book by the FT or London Sunday Times journo, "Berezovky: Godfather of the Kremlin." Has material on Marc Rich. On the Zyuganovites, I'd be less than happy that they are the most popular party in the fSU. For just, a beginning of why I think so, see a longish piece by Michael Malkin, published around late '98 or early '99. On the CPGB website, the Tom Burghardt antifa, and the ISWoR one too. Two other sources, on Zyuganov, in book form, Martin A. Lee, "The Beast Reawakens, " on post- WWII neo-fascism, chapter on The National Bolsheviks like Dugin and that Eddie Limonov clown (funny as fuck novelist though, see, "It's Me, Eddie! and his column in the eXile) Walter Laqueur, "Black Hundreds, " also has extensive material on Eurasianism, a Zyuganov tic along with anti-semitism and a tenderness towards the Russian Orthodox Church. Even the www.pww.org (CPUSA) had a critical article on the last party congress last year and the anti-semitism of a large bloc of delegates. (that ex-general, Makshakov still around making his vile comments, btw?) The fSU, desperately needs a militant but, non-demogogic radical-democratic left. Tirades from Zyuganov about the NWO and the Zionist International Bankers, ain't the way to go. Which, I'm not saying you support. :-) Michael Pugliese P.S. One more, actually two books on the Russian Right. Alexander Yanov has two books, one recent, the other a short monograph, available on the net, in pdf form of his work for a UCB think tank back in the late 70's, "The Russian New Right. Another book, I have not seen in a while but, in alot of university libraries. Entitled, "Russia's Fascists." Published around '67. P.P.S. The new book, from Columbia Univ. Press by Roy Medvedev on the Yeltsin years. 35 buckeroos.
