How about simply "How Upper-Middle-Class Americans Think" if the ideology of the so-called "upper-middle-class" is indeed Wolfe's professed object of research, as you claim it is? That would be short, without causing any misunderstanding that his research has something to say about what "most Americans" think, as most reviewers of his book thought it did.
