I saw this on one of those email joke lists that circulates from time to time, but it captured the same point:
If you ever wonder whether anyone cares if you're alive, stop paying your mortgage and credit card bills.
It was meant as humor, of course, but there's a lot of radical content in it. Imagine the social chaos generated if we all wrote "non-serviam" on our next Mastercard bill, as our esteemed moderator suggested in his (thus far) magnum opus.
