Though I don't know about Ken & Kelley, I doubt that Habermas makes any such claim. In so far as Habermas learned anything from Marx & critical theory, he'd have to argue that conscious social reproduction is a promise of modernity, hardly possible under feudalism & other pre-capitalist modes of production.
