And just how were they successful? Do you call a movement in the U.S. that tolerated rabid racists among its leadership (as did Debs's socialist party) "successful"? An odd concept of success. Any radical movement in the U.S. must be measured by the impact it has on racial oppression and on the support of racial oppression among workers.
