Hearing zillions of pots and pans being banged on BBC yesterday from Venezuela was creepy. (For those who haven't seen The Battle of Chile, that was one tactic of the counter-revolutionary bloc.)

An acct. in todays F Chronicle via the AP, said, this strike was joined by the 1 million strong Confederation of Venezuelan Workers. Stooges of the discredited AD socdems? (Though w/o Carlos Andres Perez of the AD, Olaf Palme of the Sweedish socdems and Omar Torrijos of Panama, in the late 70's, the FSLN might not have triumphed. All three proferred military and diplomatic support. See, among many sources the huge book by William LeoGrande, published by Stanford on the FSLN, FDR-FMLN and Washington.) Michael Pugliese

-Withouth support from organized labour, how can Chavez win? -I´m somewhat confused, the strike is being hailed as a great -success in our right wing press, but on the other hand -Chávez still has too much support. Who could explain better -what is happening?

Alexandre
