Free enterprise under attack by sports commission, Twins claim Star Tribune

Accusing the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission of attacking the free-market system, an attorney for baseball owners, including the Twins, urged the Minnesota Court of Appeals Monday to reverse a judge's decision and allow the Twins to disband.
Roger Magnuson, the owners' attorney, said in a brief filed with the appellate court that the commission's notion that the courts could interfere is a "radical position [that] should be rejected."
Baseball owners are seeking to overturn a temporary injunction, issued by Hennepin County District Judge Harry Crump on Nov. 16, requiring the team to live up to its lease with the commission, which operates the Metrodome, and play the 2002 season. Crump also ordered baseball owners not to eliminate the team.
