the pipeline theory

A not necessarily reliable source tells me it would
take 100 years for the country to be sufficiently
pacified to host a pipeline.  Obviously a blue-sky
kind of prediction, but no worse than the converse
one.  The difficulty of constructing civil order in Afgh,
as opposed to toppling a pretty fragile central gov,
seems pretty daunting to a non-expert.  -- mbs
