I think that's just a stereotype; the people I've met in the field (a
few hundred?) seem to be just as likely to be libertarians, hawkish
Republicans, politically naive, or Clinton Liberals and they are hippy
anti-capitalist.  A better correlation is probably recreational drug
use (except in rural areas!).
