Slang: Tommy boy?

The Chris Farley / David Spade (?) movie about the dumb boojie son, his inheritance and his priapismic mate? Critics hated it, lots of young 'uns loved it, and I never saw it, so can't say anything else.

The only British connection that comes to mind is Tommy as British infantryman.
