The student is probably referring to the Chris Farley movie by that name, in which case he is probably impervious to shame. Perhaps you are thinking of the British elongation of tomboy into tommy boy? Or maybe you are thinking of teddy boys? Except there's nothing very shameful in them, especially when compared with Farley's Tommy Boy character, who's fat and stupid.
