Julia Butterfly Hill is best known for her efforts to save a 2000 year old redwood tree called "Luna" where she staged a heroic "tree-sit" for nearly two years on a small platform 180 feet up in Luna's crown.

She will recount her experiences that led from her childhood in a small town in Arkansas to a career as an activist and one of the world's most visible environmental crusaders.

Julia's victorious battle against the Pacific Lumber Company (a subsidiary of MAXXAM Corporation) in California has been an inspiration to Steelworkers throughout the country struggling against another MAXXAM subsidiary, Kaiser Aluminum and Ohio's own AK Steel.

The unity between Labor and Environmentalists is the basis for the Alliance for Sustainable Jobs and the Environment.

Other Speakers will include:

John Goodman, United Steelworkers, Spokane Washington Dave Caldwell, Sub District Director, Area 3, United Steelworkers of America Suzanne Forrester, Pennsylvania Clean Water Action
