I adore Brecht. The Mannheim-Willett translations are not bad, much better than the Bentley. He's hard to beat in German, though. He is real master of German prose and poetry. Like all good drama, Brecht plays better than he reads. I love Weill's music, too. Speaking just for myself, the Threepenny Opera was literally a transforming moment in my life. --jks
