Gotta disagree here, to steal a quote 'Reading about music is like dancing about
architecture'. Start with Miles in the Gil Evans period, then Kind of Blue,
Coltrane with 'A Love Supreme', anything with Sonny Rollins, Ornette Coleman,
Cecil Taylor or Charlie Haden and just listen. Read when you're done listening
for what you want to hear, not what others tell you you should hear.
