By the acct. I read in, "Radical Visions and American Dreams, " by Richard Pells, Otis Ferguson was aligned with the Old Left in the 30's. The Pells book, btw, is a good examination of the Old Left intellegentsia. Of coarse, the evolution of the Partisan Review crowd is examined, but Pells takes extended looks at other figures in the arts with an eye to the tensions between cosmopolitan socialism and populism ala the Popular Front nationalist kitsch.
