They could be dying of any number of things: severe malnutrition, various communciable disease, who knows? Stats are poorly kept in most parts of Kenya and the rest of AFrica for that matter. The key thing is this: Anybody who dies a relatively gruesome death who is SAID to be HIV infected is then determined to be a victim of AIDS, never mind the fact that the person never took the HIV test (of which there are several variants, all of which are problematic).
