The USA of Decay may be in severe decline, its ramshackle political system
in thrall to 200-year-old white male slave-owner oligarchs, its economy
hooked on 350 billion EUR of foreign capital a year, but, as a famous line
in Gibson's Neuromancer put it, it can't know this ("I am that which
knoweth not the name", as Wintermute says to Case). Why? Because
everywhere it looks, it sees *itself*:

The EU and Japan are producing a heck of a lot of films, but not the
blockbuster cash cows. Yet.
