I see...but to avoid yet further idiomatic confusion, it should be made
clear that "homeboy" or "homey" here in california refers to a "townie" or
hometown boy, something cool to be and implicitly someone who gets around.
Quite different from "wanker otaku", which seems to refer quite literally to
a shut in stay at home "w/o a life".
