Yeah, Brenda, but this book was written about forty years ago, no? I like
lots of JKG myself, but would submit THE SHAREHOLDER (a democratic-sounding
term that effectively refers to a few big financial institutions) rules
over managers, citizens, workers and consumers alike. That doesn't mean
corporations don't 'manage demand'. The NASDAQ companies evince a contempt
for profits relative to stuff like branding and apparent growth to
quasi-monopolistic mass, too - but that's probably because their
shareholders are betting on future profits, rather than a divvie right now.
