Forget to mention a ghastly detail that something that Peter mentions below made me remember. "Gas Chambers For The Albanians!, " http://search.news.yahoo.com/search/news?p=Gas+Chambers+For+The+Albanians%21 chanted by majority Macedonians in the riots a few weeks ago after NATO troops escorted out (with all their weaponry) the NLA rebels from out of the area around the capital city. hi all
i'm having a bit of trouble following what's going on here but i gather michael pugliese is forwarding stuff from this list to other lists and then forwarding their replies to this list.

i take it this brian chap is referring to me. and he is right i don't think the SPS is fascist. more broadly i don't think it's terribly useful to describe any government except the nazi german and fascist italian one as fascist. and even then the distinguishing feature of fascist governments is not their totalitarian behaviour which has been mirrored by many 'socialist' and 'democratic' capitalist states. rather it is how they got into power, namely through a mass movement separate from capital as such but acting in the interest of capital.

i never called the SPS fascists except perhaps by mistake.

i couldn't give a fuck about progressive politics, progressives are just another capitalist faction. however a movement against the NATO occupation of Bosnia and Kosovo would probably offer the best chance of undoing some of the ethnic hatred but unfortunately i couldn't see it coming too soon given recent nationalist riots by Bosnian Serbs and Croats and the war in Macedonia.

any struggle that accepts the SPS as an ally is doomed.
to John: yes i was mistaken about the gay rights march in belgrade.
