one good polemic deserves
another. Cohn, as my addition to the subject line indicates is a denizen of apst and other places like Commentary. His website has his CV. Think he was around the Trotskyist sect of the thirties, the Oehlerites, no? (Scott McLemee corrects me when I'm wrong on my Trotskiana, I'll cc him later...) The group whose leader wrote, "Earl Browder: Tool of Wall Street?" (Think, I'm all wet here, see the Encyclopedia of Trotskyism Online and or the website of Revolutionary History in the UK.)
Anyway, dig in lbo'sters, this thread has been good, I certainly get thrown all around by the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The facts on the ground are so horrid and the consequences for ordinary folks there so ghastly and the possibilities for a just resolution seem so slim, sometimes this reminds me of a phrase a friend came up with. TFN. "Totally Fucked Nations" Israeli policy has to be changed, too many kids have died, too much land expropriated for settlements. But the PLO has lost it's street cred. and Hamas and Hizbollah, AARGH! Cut off US Aid? As a rhetorical demand that has as much liklihood as occurring as the Pentagon levitating in the March on the Pentagon in '67. (See N. Mailer, "The Armies of the Night.")
Anyway, here is the URL for Cohn on Shahak. www.wernercohn.com/shahak/ Michael Pugliese
