Excuse me, I don't mean to be rude--and I normally don't get into challenging stuff on this list (I've already got a sleep deficit)--but this one hits a little too close to home. The murdered protester, Carlo Giuliani, could have been me or any number of people I know, so I feel I have to respond.

"The duty of conscious radicals...?" This is crap. As far as I can tell, the G8 protesters (regardless of specific issues, identity politics, political memberships or lack thereof, etc. etc) *are* doing their duty--for all of us--by trying to make the world a better place.

The duty of the State, for as long as the gleaming wreck lasts, is not to kill its citizens.
