OK, we weren't doing a politically correct laundry list here, but there now a fair number of women philosophers. (Though philosophy is overwhelmingly male and rather macho.) Before the last century, there were hardly any. There are also very few African American philosophers: I probably know personally every one with tenure in the country, and I don't even move in those circles.

But we were talking about W's idea that philosophy as such is committed to the search for atemporal external univerals. Some philosophers have this view. I was pointing out that not everyone in the field has that view.
