To be honest, considering German divisions engaged, casualties, casualties inflicted, tank production (qualitative & quantitative), area upon which the war was waged, "National War" (for the USSR) seems not too farfetched a name for "WW2." In comparison, the involvement of the U.S. was rather marginal, with its monkeying around in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Guadacanal, New Guinea while millions were dying in Russia, where the war was really being decided.
