Ego be damned. Have you ever gone out in the summer sun with locks thinned to a fine fuzz? Or winter come to that (bicycle helmets in winter with no hair on top are real cold, bands of frostbit skin where the slots let the air through)? Or had the pleasure of sweat running down unhindered into ones eyes? Or found even the lightest brush against something leads to copious bleeding?
Until its gone you don't realise just what practical things hair does!
