Hey Brad,

>What's wrong with just informing us that we are violating social
>norms established for the general good, and should shape up?

Nothing is wrong with it, but it's routine to see people post 10 messages in a day. It makes sense, too. If people didn't post this much, many threads would take too long to develop or would simply die. The 3 post limit is too low, and is properly being ignored, IMHO.

>We are rational and reasonable beings engaged in an ideal speech
>situation, are we not? When informed of what is expected of us, we
>will behave, won't we?

We're not behaving as far as I can tell, at least in respect to the posting limit. While at first I found the overposting warning somewhat amusing, now it's just an annoyance which I invariably ignore if I have more to say. I will say Doug is very good at rooting out people who are simply nasty, and I applaud his efforts on this front, but it's time for a raise in the posting limit.

Perhaps I'll send some spam to see if Doug will make an example out of me : -)

Brett
