Peculiar logic, indeed. Protecting social welfare or environment is called "protectionism" and chastised as the impediment to free market. Protecting monopolies of the entertainment inductry, however, is a religion, and any infringement is called "piracy."
Let's hope technology will help to render these monopolies errr.... "intellectual property rights" obsolete.
PS. 'Intellectual piracy" or imitation, not monopolies, is the mother of all progress and invention. Without imitating someone else's we would still live in small hunting-and-gathering bands, no agriculture, no written language, no technology.
