Well, now, let's not over-abuse the ghost of the seminarian Dzhugashvili here. There was an ingrained culture of anti-Semitism in Russia and eastern Europe which predated the advent of the Communist regimes by several centuries, and which, according to my ex-Soviet friends and colleagues, has outlived it as well. Fun as it may be to heap the shabby corpse with obloquy, not every gob available belongs upon it.
